Designing the accessories

4 pairs of the original style of FEeline Clothing mittens, in green aqua soft grey/purple and deep violet/purple.

The Mittens – decide which style and colour(s) you would like.. The stripey mittens give the most scope for creativity. Both with colours and stripe width. The insert mittens with their contrasting triangle in either a different hue or tone, or both. Maybe each mitten could have a different coloured insert? The two tone mittens are also fun to create with, two shades of the same colour, or contrasting colours? The leaf mittens can be a creative canvas, two leaves on just one hand or two on each hand?

Designing the garments

When choosing the colour options for a Feeline top and/or cardigan, there are the established colour ways. For example, the pinky one is called ‘sunset’, the blues range from paler to darker; ‘aqua’ ‘sea’ ‘marine’ ‘lagoon’ or ‘deep sea’. The browns are called ‘chocolate’ ‘deep earth’ ‘winter trees’ etc. Within the more neutral fawns there are ‘stone’ ‘desert’ ‘sand’.. The purples are ‘violet’ ‘bluebell’ ‘misty mountain’.. And the greens ‘fern ‘moss’ ‘leaf’ ‘forest’ ‘woodland’ and more..

Within each standard colour way, small variations are possible if you would like more individuality. It is the inserts at the hem of the tops and cardigans, and the wrist edge of the sleeves, where these contrasting colours are added. It is also fine to have a single insert colour only, creating a garment of two colours overall.

Leaves can also be added to these garments. This is most effective if the inserts are the same colour as the body of the top or jacket, thus creating a uniform background for the leaves to meander over or cascade down. Although an adventurous design could be done onto multi-coloured inserts if you’re feeling particularly creative, or brave..

The tops have three neckline variations; round neck, hood or collar. The cardigan/jackets come with either hood or collar. The hoods are pointy, and the collar is a neat little flattering stand up, or down collar. The other detail variation is at the sleeve hem; the standard sleeve has four small inserts in contrasting colour or colours (right photo) and echos the hem edge of the body of the garment, or a narrower sleeve with one insert (left photo).
