The Fabric
The current range is all made from a fleece almost exclusive to Feeline Clothing (it is also used by Salt Cellar Hats, in Porthleven, Cornwall)
A unique fine fleece, is used throughout the whole range these days. It is made from a mix of viscose and polyester. Making it easy to care for; needing no ironing, and is quick drying. It’s the natural fibre content of viscose which takes up the dye, and this often results in an attractive marl effect.
From the six basic bought in colours, hundreds of variations of hue and tone are created by individual dye loads, using dylon dye. The original manufactured colours used as a canvas for new colour creation are;
fawn, sage, wine, brown, blue, mocha and a soft purple/grey they called nightshade.
its fibre content is viscose and polyester. the viscose, being natural, take up the dye, the polyester gives easy drying. Resulting in a lightweight fabric that feels good to wear.
Experimentation during the past couple of decades with dyeing this fabric has produced hundreds of hues and tones. Some limited edition, some ongoing favourites. The possibilities really are endless, and fun to create.
Since 2010 this close association with the colours of nature and the beauty found there, has been the main inspiration. Deepening or re-establishing this connection, especially for those who spend a vast amount of their time indoors, can be very beneficial. Maybe Feeline Clothing’s range can be a reminder of this important aspect of life and health.
Colour combinations
There are standard colour combinations for the garments. All inspired by nature and the elements, with many colour-ways linked to particular aspects of nature, eg ‘fern’ ‘moss’ ‘desert’ ‘bluebell’ ‘sunset’ ‘deep sea’..
Five of the starting colours, all except the wine, are dyed into all the myriad to choose from.
fawn; pale neutral and easy to put with many other colours in your wardrobe. This dyes into the pinks/coral tones, the greys, fawns, some greens and more.
sage; pale greeny grey, equally as neutral and useful as the fawn. It dyes into many shades of green and more.
wine; a deep burgundy maroon, a strong rich colour.
brown; a chocolate brown, another strong deep colour, whilst still being fairly neutral within that part of the colour palette.
blue; a mid soft sweet blue hue, light, bright and not garish. It dyes into all the blues in the range of blue shades.
nightshade; a soft purple grey, it dyes into all the purple hues, from pinky to deep rich indigo.

With many shades of green, purple, blue, pinks, and lots of more neutral tones, ranging from browns, to fawns, to greys, and from dark to pale, all of the colours are fairly muted and soft. They lend themselves to a natural palette, as ever with Feeline designs, and a close association with the natural environment.
Most of the mitten styles offer the opportunity to be creative with colour combinations if desired. Subtle similarly matched hues or shades, alternatively contrasts of colour and tone, which can create wonderful effects, moods, and statements. One neutral pair to blend with all your outfits, coats or jackets. Or a few pairs to match with the different colours in your wardrobe. Or for different moods – a vibrant pair to uplift you, a soothing pair of muted tones for those quiet introspective times. A pair to echo the vibrant emergence of green leaves and shoots in the spring, or something to match the joy of flowers going into summer..
